I'm not proclaiming to be as knowledgeable as a professional by any means, but I know some about metals used in the jewelry, cleaning, how it should fit, etc. Coworker's daughter just got her belly button done a week or so ago, and it was red. Fit of the jewelry was tight, IMO. They also told her to use non-iodized sea salt and water for cleaning, which is a no-no. You're only ever supposed to use sterile saline to clean a piercing. Basically, I'd be paranoid if I heard sketchy advice from my piercer.
